Adding a "Fixed Trip (Pairing)" to the RJSG Calendar
As always, in this discussion the word "trip" is interchangeable with the word "pairing".
To add a "fixed" trip, click on the trip you want to add in the trip list. Then left-click and hold to drag the trip onto the RJSG. As you drag you will see a hand. If you drag over a day on which the trip does not operate, the hand will become a "not drop" icon. Once you are over a calendar block that is a valid trip operating day, you can release the left mouse button to "drop" the trip and it will appear on the SJSG Calendar as a "fixed" trip.
Note: When you select any trip in the trip list, the valid operating days for that trip will be shown visually on the RJSG Calendar.
You can add any number of "fixed trips" to the RJSG Calendar. When you add "fixed" trip(s), BC will perform legality checking to ensure the trip you add doesn't violate any legalities with any other "fixed", carry-in, or previous month's trip.
When you build schedules and the SG Calendar contains a "fixed" trip(s), all possible schedules will be created from "bookmarked" trips that accommodate the "fixed" trip(s) you put on the calendar. The "trip-day limit" directive has no effect on the "fixed" trip, but does still limit all other trips when building schedules. In essense you are building every possible schedule that works with the "fixed" trip(s) on the RJSG Calendar. This is very desirable if you a a senior bidder and know you can hold the "fixed" trip(s) and want to see what other trips will work with them.
Once there is a "fixed" trip on the SG Calendar, you cannot create any blank schedules until you remove all "fixed" trips. The [Create New Blank] command button is relabled to [Remove Fixed Trip(s)]. You can remove a "fixed trip" only when the SG Calendar is in the "reset" state.
Removing Fixed Trip(s)
You can remove "fixed" trips in one of two ways. If you have more than one "fixed" trip and want to remove just one of them, simply "right-click" on the calandar block with that trip. A pop-up will appear with an option that says "Remove Fixed Trip". This option will only be available if the trip you select is indeed a "fixed" trip. When you select that option, BC will remove the "fixed" trip.
You can always remove all "fixed" trip(s) using the [Remove Fixed Trip(s)] command button. The labeling on the button will change to reflect the number of "fixed" trips on the RJSG Calendar. When you click that button, ALL "fixed" trips will be removed.
When you remove "fixed" trip(s), credit values are updated accordingly.
